Mufti News has learned that Emily Montgomery, a single, attractive white girl, has become very interested in Islam and may in fact embrace it and become Muslim very soon!
Our sources report that Sister Emily has been studying Islam more intensively in recent weeks with Imam Warhaj, who has been devoting a tremendous amount of time towards ensuring that the sister gets all the exposure to Islam that is needed.
Additionally, Sister Amina has taken Sister Emily under her wing to instruct her on proper modesty for Muslim women, and to talk with her about whatever other issues Muslim women discuss among themselves when they are not with men.
According to Sister Amina, Sister Emily is all but decided that she will be embracing Islam, despite the fact that her non-Muslim family has some reservations about her decision. The main reason for the delay is that they were trying to decide if her new name should be Aisha, Zaynab, Hafsa, or another of the Noble Prophet’s wives, but now they are pretty sure her new name will be Sister Hafsa.
Mufti News has learnt that Sister Hafsa’s decision to accept Islam was based on both her disillusionment with how Western culture objectifies women, and on her own sense of alienation from the religion she was raised in.
“It was difficult for me, because I grew up in a strict Catholic household. And you couldn’t really question the teachings of the Catholic church, it was kind of like you had to just blindly accept them? I know, it must sound so strange to you as Muslims. But that was my experience with religion. And more and more, I just started questioning privately and thinking ‘this makes no sense.'”
Continued Sister Hafsa, “There’s so much about Catholicism that is just illogical. Like, why does the church get involved with all these little details of how we live our lives? Do we really need some international body of scholars telling us what example we should follow for every minute little thing? And when you read the Bible… there is so much in there that is just so divisive. Whereas with Islam, it’s just about One God, and that’s it.
Continued Sister Hafsa, “One God, for all mankind. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from… anyone can be Muslim. That’s what’s so beautiful. Islam appeals to reason and to the heart.”
Sister Hafsa was also impressed by how much Muhammad Rasulallah did for women’s rights, encouraging them to cover and protecting them from exploitation. “Sister Amina is just so inspiring, I just feel like she radiates this inner peace. I learned from Imam Warhaj that this is actually the noor of Islam. And Imam Warhaj has been so accommodating and welcoming. Every day he’ll call me or text me, sometimes two or three times a day, to see if I need anything. His dedication to Islam is just amazing.”
“To have our beliefs validated by an attractive white girl who wants to convert to Islam is always a major boost to the morale of any masjid,” Imam Warhaj explained to us, “But Allah states clearly in the Qur’an that there is no compulsion in religion. So we want to make sure that this is really the right step for Sister Hafsa. We don’t want her to make any hasty decisions. If she chooses to embrace Islam, then of course, we will be glad to welcome her as a Muslim into our community. If not, then that’s okay too.”
Sister Hafsa hopes that Allah will open the hearts of her family to her decision, but says it does not matter to her if they accept her new religion or not, because even the sahaba had family members who rejected the message of Islam initially.
“I try to explain to them that this is more like a ‘reversion’ to my natural state. I truly feel Islam is the religion we are all born into, and then the culture we are born into take us out of our natural state of iman and into other false beliefs, and the worship of culture. But I am so grateful to Allah subhanawa’ta’aala that I have found my deen. I wish my family could share in my happiness, but it’s unfortunate that they are so brainwashed that they cannot see how beautiful and pure this religion is.”
Sister Hafsa is already planning on taking Arabic lessons with Imam Warhaj. She plans to go for umrah as soon as she is spiritually ready for it, and as soon as she can find a Muslim husband to accompany her.
