Seeking to cater to a growing Muslim user base, Facebook announced on Monday the development of a new plugin that includes new “like” buttons.
By downloading the plugin, any account holder can replace his or her traditional “reaction” buttons (consisting of “like,” “love,” “laughing,” “anger,” and “weeping”) with new buttons meant to express these ideas in ways that are more consistent with Islamic standards. They new buttons will be:
Additional bonus features that come with the plugin include:
- due to its huge popularity with Muslim users, the “report post” feature will be enhanced to include options to classify the offensive post as either “takfir” or “Islamophobia.”
- keyboard shortcuts that will automatically enter popular phrases such as “Ameen,” “Amin,” “AAAMMEEEEN!” and “May Allah grant you janat-al-firdaus for bestowing this knowledge upon us, Shaikh”
- Indecent pictures of women, and articles about scientific research on human origins and astronomy will automatically be hidden from your timeline
No word yet on when this exciting plugin will be released, though our contact at Facebook assures us it will be completed “Insha’Allah.”
