We can’t post an image here because it’s haraam to depict the Prophet (PBUH).

The Institute of Islamic Thought Processes released the results of their global survey of “Most Admired Muslims of All Time.” Topping the list? Muhammad ibn Abdullah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), Allah’s final and most important messenger to mankind.

Though the Holy Prophet was widely expected to receive strong support, pollsters were stunned at how easily he defeated such strong competition as Ali ibn abi Talib, Salah ad-Din Yusuf ibn Ayyub, Shaikh Hamza Yusuf, Mufti Ismail Menk, Dr. Zakir Naik, Sister Lauren Booth, Dave Chappelle, Princess Diana and Barack Hussein Obama. Despite their varied accomplishments, this group ended up receiving no votes at all, as data analysis showed that all of their potential support was consumed by Rasul-Allah. In fact, other than a handful of (likely sentimental) votes for the recently deceased Mumtaz Qadri, every single vote cast was cast in favor of the eventual winner.

In analyzing the results, pollsters have been hard pressed for ways to explain the Holy Prophet’s dominant showing. Dr. Muhammad Syed Nabi of the Prince Alwaleed bin Talal School of Islamic Things at Georgetown University offered a number of explanations.

“The Blessed Prophet (sallalahu alayhi wa sallam) is a key figure in the history of Islam, so it is natural that he would poll well in a survey of this kind,” observed Dr. Nabi. “In addition, Allah says in the Qur’an in no uncertain words that mankind should admire the Holy Prophet very much, and that is also likely to have had a strong effect in swaying voters.”

Dr. Muhammad Abdullah of the Bayyinah Institute for Quranic Studies also echoed this sentiment, explaining that “the deep and lasting impact made by the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is undeniable, as are the specter of apostasy laws in many Muslim countries, and of Hellfire in the afterlife, both of which could be made manifest if anyone expresses a contrary opinion on this matter.”

Indeed, analysts will be hard pressed to explain this level of dominance of one individual over all others in the field, and we expect further investigations into this stunning phenomenon. After all, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was only a man.
